Description

Clark 5/4mm is built for the coldest conditions. Full sleeves, full-length legs, and maximum thermal lining through the chest and back panels keep you warm during long winter sessions in very cold water. Thick enough to handle the cold, flexible enough to keep you moving.

Made with Yamamoto limestone neoprene, sourced from calcium carbonate, not petroleum. Softer, lighter, and more heat-efficient than conventional neoprene. Glued and blind-stitched (GBS) seams provide maximum protection against water entry in cold and very cold conditions. A back-zip entry makes it easy to get in and out before and after sessions.

Key details

  • 5/4mm Yamamoto limestone neoprene

Warmth & conditions:
A 5/4mm wetsuit is ideal for water temperatures below 50°F (below 10°C). This covers the coldest surf conditions — Pacific Northwest winter, northern Europe, Iceland, Japan winter, and any location where cold water demands maximum insulation.

Need less warmth? → Clark 4/3mm (50–58°F / 10–14°C) · Clark 3/3mm (58–66°F / 14–19°C) · Clark 2/2mm (64–72°F / 18–22°C)

Fit & Thickness Helper

Choosing your size

Clark fullsuits are designed to fit snugly for warmth and performance.

  • Choose your usual wetsuit size
  • 2/2mm: very stretchy — a close fit is recommended
  • 3/3mm, 4/3mm & 5/4mm: slightly firmer — if between sizes, consider sizing up
  • A snug feel when dry is normal and softens once wet

Choosing your thickness

Clark is available in 2/2mm, 3/3mm, 4/3mm, and 5/4mm, offering progressive warmth.

  • 2/2mm → mild water, warmer sessions
  • 3/3mm → cooler water, everyday use
  • 4/3mm → cold water, winter surf
  • 5/4mm → below 50°F (below 10°C) — very cold water, maximum insulation, long winter sessions

Choose lighter thicknesses for flexibility, thicker options for maximum warmth.

FAQ

Which thickness is the Clark 5/4mm for?
The Clark 5/4mm is designed for water temperatures below 50°F (below 10°C). It provides maximum insulation for very cold water, long winter sessions, and conditions where staying warm is critical to staying in the water.

What is Yamamoto neoprene?
Yamamoto neoprene is made from calcium carbonate derived from limestone, not petroleum. It is softer, lighter, and more flexible than conventional neoprene, and has a lower environmental impact. Abysse uses Yamamoto #39 limestone neoprene across the Clark range.

What is ECOPRENE?
ECOPRENE is Abysse's proprietary material system combining Yamamoto limestone neoprene with recycled bottle linings. It is designed as a lower-impact alternative to petroleum-based wetsuits without compromising warmth or flexibility.

Does the 5/4mm Clark have thermal lining?
Yes. The Clark 5/4mm features a full thermal internal lining through key body panels to provide maximum warmth retention in very cold water. Combined with GBS seams, it is Abysse's warmest and most protective wetsuit.

What seams does the 5/4mm use?
The Clark 5/4mm uses glued and blind-stitched (GBS) seams. GBS seams create a watertight seal that minimises water entry and maximises thermal retention during very cold water and extended winter sessions.

Does Clark feel restrictive in thicker versions?
Clark is designed to maintain comfort and mobility across all thicknesses. High-movement areas, shoulders and arms, remain flexible even in the 5/4mm.

How do I care for my Clark wetsuit?
Rinse with fresh water after every session. Dry away from direct sunlight. Close the Velcro tabs before storing to protect the lining and seams.

Is Clark suitable for activities other than surfing?
Yes, Clark is designed for surfing, SUP, kitesurfing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, foiling, open-water swimming, snorkelling, and scuba diving.

    Insanely beautiful hot suit !!

Just got this stunning piece from Abysse as I am surfing during the winter in New Zealand.

The water is 15 degrees now and I tried the suit on this morning for the first time.

I couldn’t believe how warm but also comfortable this wetsuit was.

It still feels super soft paddling around and it’s definitely the warmest suit I ever owned.

I have been trying every single brands, styles, fabrics and I can tell you : this one is the one !!!!

Super stoked to be wearing this pieces of warm art !
