Fit & Sizing Help

Not sure about thickness or fit? Message us — we’ll recommend sizing, water-temp range, and ideal use.

If you are between sizes, we recommend choosing the smaller size, as wetsuits should fit close to the body to reduce water flushing.

FAQ

What water temperatures are these wetsuits suitable for?

Water temperature suitability depends on thickness, style, activity level, and personal comfort. As a general guide, lighter wetsuits suit warmer waters, while thicker full suits provide more insulation for cooler conditions.

What is the approximate temperature range for a 2/2mm wetsuit?

A 2/2mm wetsuit is generally comfortable in warm to mild waters, approximately 64–72°F (18-22°C ), depending on conditions and personal tolerance.

What is the approximate temperature range for a 3/3mm wetsuit?

A 3/3mm wetsuit is typically suited to cooler waters, approximately 57–66°F (14–19°C), offering more warmth for longer or colder sessions.

How should a wetsuit fit?

A wetsuit should fit snugly without restricting movement. It may feel slightly firm when dry and will feel more comfortable once wet. A close fit helps reduce water flushing and improves warmth.

Are these wetsuits easy to put on and take off?

Yes. Entry systems and materials are selected to make getting in and out as easy as possible. Softer neoprene and considered construction help reduce strain during entry and removal.

What if I’m between sizes?

If you’re between sizes, a slightly snug fit is recommended for warmth and performance. Sizing up may offer additional comfort for casual use. Our team is happy to help with sizing advice.

My first Abysse - happy camper.

So I just put my first two days of surfing in with this Abysse 4/3. For reference I’m 6’, 175lbs, bought the large, and was out in 56-degree central-coast CA the last two days. I’ve been buying/wearing premium Yamamoto-rubber wetsuits for the last ~20 years (owned half-dozen of them in that time), surfing 45 years. I’ve paid more for wetsuits and I’ve paid less. Love the fit, zero flush issues, all the great stretch I expect from premium Yamamoto rubber, warm-and-comfy and I’m a happy camper. I’d say the zipper is a very pleasant surprise - I normally wear chest-zippers and have owned a couple zipper-less. The Abyss back zipper is truly top-notch, there’s a good internal flush guard, I had zero noticeable flushing issues despite plenty of duck diving the last two days. Makes it very easy to get in and out of this suit. The true test of any wetsuit is how it holds up in year-2+ (I normally rotates suits every 2-3 years), so time will tell. Observationally, the stitching appears high quality - no concerns there. I’m used to fully-glued/taped seams over 100% of the stitching - and the Abysse does not have fully-taped along all stitching - but it is taped in “most” of the places that count - those being around the groin-thigh areas, knee-pads, and end-points where the various rubber panels are connected. If I were to pick one area that potentially concerns me - but time will tell - I would say the “anti-flush” panel at the back that lies beneath the zipper seams…

    Excellent suit for men

Incredible suit for ocean activities! Worn by my partner, an avid free diver - and he loves it. He purchased the 3 mm for additional warmth, and he was able to stay in for hours. It's flexible enough to allow you to move easily, and stay as active as needed while in the water.

    Highly recommend!
